I suspect that for many media organizations, secret agendas and interests are defining factors as well: pharmaceutical companies, political parties, intelligence agencies. The profit motive simply isn't sufficient to account for the derangement of legacy media. Their path towards relevance is pretty clear(even if it would be difficult to pull off with uniformly Democratic-voting employees), and they're not walking in that direction. It's possible that there are other factors at play.
