My husband and I are spending this holy weekend on an anchored houseboat in Florida…just 30 minutes from home. As I sit on the front deck this morning, there are birds chirping. I see the bubbles of an underwater creature…alligator or manatee? An older man is spraying off his boat on the next dock. The sun is hot on my legs, but there is a steady breeze across the lake that keeps it from being too warm. Everyone so often a man wearing large headphones rides past the dock on his bike singing, “I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain?” I am lingering over a second cup of coffee, picking at crumbs of an almond danish. This is a precious time of physical, mental, and emotional rest. It is one year since Milt’s mom passed on to glory and our caretaking days drew to a close. It is funny how one trouble ends, but others remain, and new concerns appear. Life can be hard, so it feels good and needed to step away from everything, to hit pause. Today, I am soaking in God’s presence and goodness. My heart is full and thankful on this Easter Weekend. What a wonderful Savior, whose love and sacrifice give me hope and anchor me through it all. Now I have to go… a turtle is popping his head up near the edge of our boat. Happy Easter my friends!
