Here’s an important thing, on the final day of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month: I was reminded while chatting to a friend that a lot of people believe that smear (PAP) tests screen for ovarian cancer.

They don’t. There is no routine screening for ovarian cancer.

The charity Target Ovarian Cancer has been doing good work to try to correct this misapprehension by getting wording and illustrations changed in the leaflets.

Smear (PAP) tests screen for cervical cancer, not ovarian cancer.
