Make money doing the work you believe in

Every day I see complaints from editors, reviewers, and readers about the disappointing "eduslop," fabricated research and citations creeping into scholarly journals. I wondered publishers are doing to prevent the loss of respect for the outputs of scholarly research - so needed at this time of mis- and disinformation. I studied the guidelines from eight publishers and discussed key points in this newsletter. What is acceptable, prohibited, or requires documentation for a case-by-case review?

If you are thinking about using AI in research that you hope to publish, or thinking you will use gen AI in manuscript preparation, you might want to take a look. The rules and expectations are changing!

I applaud their efforts. Next I will inquire about how publishers are implementing these policies together with journal editors, and how they are educating researchers about what to expect.
