The app for independent voices

A lot of people are loudly against LinkedIn verification and LinkedIn made a recent move that many users will not be happy about. But this move might finally help clean up the flood of fake profiles on the platform, or at least it is the first real step.

LinkedIn said that verified members get about 50 percent more engagement on their content because verification confirms the content is coming from a real person.

This means two people can post the same idea, with the same value, and the verified one gets the reach.

I hear comments like, “My content must be useless” or “LinkedIn is broken.”

Usually it is neither. It is the algorithm and verification that increase trust, and trust increases distribution.

I understand why some dislike verification. But the verification badge helps remove fake accounts and it helps real professionals stand out.

This is LinkedIn’s way of encouraging more people to complete verification.

Visibility is not quality, but it decides who gets heard first.
