Every time I see on LinkedIn "Comment 'BOOK' and I'll DM you the link!" I report it as spam. Because that's exactly what it is.

You're not being generous. You're not building community. You're gaming an algorithm by manufacturing fake engagement, then sliding into DMs with content you were going to share for free anyway.

If it's free, just post the link. If it's valuable, it doesn't need a comment bait ritual.

If you respect your audience, you wouldn't make them perform tricks for it.

"But it boosts reach!" Yes. So does buying followers. Doesn't make it less manipulative.

The irony? The people who actually have valuable content to share... just share it. No hoops. No "drop a BOOK below."

Gating free content behind a comment isn't community building.

It's just spam with a motivational quote in the caption.

If you actually want to help people, help them. No password required.
