Hello! I’ve never been to a pachinko parlor myself, but I have a friend who really likes it, so I asked them about it and did a bit of research ^^ I think Japanese pachinko has a really unique system 😆🎰

🕹️ How it works:

• First, you pay money to borrow balls. (Legally, the balls do not belong to the player. They are considered something you temporarily borrow from the shop.) Typically, it costs about ¥1 to ¥4 per ball.

• You use a handle to shoot the balls onto the machine.

• When a ball goes into a specific pocket, a digital lottery begins on the screen.

• If you win the lottery, a large number of balls are paid out.

During a big win, a large number of balls are paid out, and players continue the game by accumulating them.

When you get a hit, you receive far more balls than you originally paid for. In the end, the extra balls can be exchanged for prizes or cash.

💰 About cashing out:

This is one of the most interesting parts. In Japan, gambling is generally prohibited (with some exceptions like public betting), so pachinko parlors cannot directly exchange winnings for cash.

Instead, they use a unique system called the “Three-Shop System.” Basically, it works in a way that avoids directly handing out cash at the parlor.

• Pachinko parlor: Exchange balls for prizes (like snacks or special items)

• Exchange counter: Buys those prizes for cash (often located just outside the parlor)

• Wholesaler: Purchases the prizes and supplies them back to the parlors

Legally, pachinko is considered “entertainment,” but in reality, it has a strong gambling aspect...haha

🎰 Recent trends:

Recently, “Smart Pachinko” machines, where you do not physically handle the balls, have been introduced. There are also many collaborations with anime and manga, and the machines have become more and more intense, with flashy lights, sounds, and even vibrations for a fully immersive experience! 😆

My friend actually said they do not like it when the animations are too long 😂 Sometimes, when two matching numbers line up, a whole battle scene or a famous anime moment plays out (called a “reach” animation), which can take around 3 to 5 minutes 😳💥

It can feel a bit frustrating while you are waiting, haha 😂

大当たり中は大量の玉が出て、それを積み上げていくのが基本的な楽しみ方です。 当たると、借りたときよりもはるかに多くの玉が払い出されます。 この増えた玉を、最終的に景品や現金に交換します。

💰 換金について

ここがとても面白いポイントなのですが、日本では原則としてギャンブルが禁止されているため（公営ギャンブルなどは例外）、パチンコ店では直接現金に換金することができません。そこで使われているのが、「三店方式」という日本独自の仕組みです。

「お店は現金を渡していない、ただの買い取り所が外にあるだけ」という形をとることで、法律に触れないように運営されています…！

• パチンコ店：玉を景品（お菓子や特殊景品など）と交換

• 景品交換所：景品を現金で買い取る。(店のすぐ外にあることが多い)

• 景品問屋：景品を買い取り、またパチンコ店に卸す。

法律上は「遊技（娯楽）」とされていますが、実態としてはギャンブル性が高いのが現状です🤔笑

🎰 最近のトレンドは…

玉に触れずに遊べる「スマートパチンコ」が登場していたり、アニメや漫画とのコラボ台も豊富で、音や光だけでなく振動するなど、体感型の演出までますます派手に進化しているそうです！😆

知人はアニメーションが長すぎて嫌だと言っていました😂 同じ数字が2つ並んでから キャラクターが敵と戦ったり、アニメの名シーンが流れたりするので（リーチ演出）3-5分かかることもあるみたいです😳

焦ったいですよね😂笑
