Romero frames this as trust. But the real shift is structural. Mythos isn’t gatekept because it’s dangerous. It’s gatekept because the value isn’t in the model anymore, it’s in the infrastructure layer around it: the harness, the scaffolding, the orchestration that turns raw capability into product. Open-source can replicate weights. It can’t replicate 15,000 words of system prompts battle-tested across millions of sessions. The “non-democratic era” isn’t about who gets the model. It’s about who gets the operating system.
