Two Photos, One Place.
Every year I try to choose a single favorite photograph—this time I failed immediately. These two insisted on arriving together.
Both images were taken at almost the same spot, only a few meters apart, on the same country road I’ve walked more times than I can count. And still: they arrived from entirely different worlds.
The first carries the quiet fire of a winter sunrise. A soft violet sky dissolves into orange heat, the valley wrapped in slow-moving mist, two tiny figures walking toward a lone, leafless tree. A moment that felt like exhaling after months of holding breath.
The second comes from summer, when the fields were gold and the sky was an opera. A thunderstorm gathered itself in the distance, rolling forward like a living organism. The same tree at the center, now bracing itself under a sky that meant business.
Same road. Same tree. Same photographer. Two completely different stories.
This is why I keep showing up with a camera. The world shifts its mood without warning, and when I’m lucky, I catch the pulse of it.
