The key question to ask about the Iran war, I think, is: Was it worth it? (The casualties, in particular.) Is the world better off now than before the war? Personally, I am not sure. “If you strike a king, kill him.” Is the regime still standing? What is its capacity to inflict damage? Is the nuclear program “obliterated”? Significantly set back? Is the Iranian regime in a position to carry out reprisals against its internal critics, making the country more oppressive than ever? Today is full of questions (and I have no answers).
