Similar situation here. Not everyone will wake up, many people still have “the need to be led” very high on their hierarchy of needs. My impression is that for those whose need to be led is not so strong - the “squishy middle”, you might say - more and more are quietly defecting. Erosion can be an insidious process until the landslide finally happens and everyone is surprised.

You said you know one person who is through with it, so let’s celebrate that! Focus our attention on what we want to see happen, and we’re sure to get more of it. It’s going to be a war of attrition and Darwin will claim large numbers, I’m afraid. But those left will be the ones qualified to lead humanity into a new and better future, IMO, so don’t despair! 👍
