9 months into dating my wife, my birthday came up. I wasn’t expecting much. Most men do not get expensive gifts from their woman, even in long-term relationships or marriages. Considering this was the first birthday of the relationship my expectation was very low.

She bought me several brightly colored polo shirts. Most of them colors I would never wear, salmon, tennis ball green, etc. I usually wear navy blue, deep forest green, black, rarely red. But not other bright colors. Two of the polo shirts she bought me, (five of them), were blue and black. She bought me a very nice medium grey shirt and matching silk tie that was very tastefully matched. But she also bought me a very stylish and expensive leather jacket made of soft Italian leather. Much nicer than the one in this photo.

I was blown away. She was showing me how much I mean to her, because she was not wealthy. In fact she had even less money than I thought she did at the time. (But by this time we knew we would be married, she was waiting for me to pop the question.😂)

It touched me very much, still does to this day. She spent nearly $800 at the time which is a lot of money today. It was a lot of money then. I had not had any previous relationship spend that kind of money on me, only my parents. It was not long after that I secretly bought her engagement ring. I proposed to her about four months later.😎
