The single might be much more desirable than the walk depending on the situation, but also, who is going to congratulate themselves on a job well done for keeping the bat on their shoulder, and being called out on an outside pitch with the bases loaded to end a game? There's a life lesson right there. Baseball isn't life, I guess. Still, in the next life, I want JVL as my little league coach.
