This is how it begins (sometimes) — a cleanish work surface, blank panels, and a bunch of reference material (in this case, an issue of LIFE magazine featuring the photographs of Larry Burrows and this terrific VW ad. The process is about selection, placement, removal, adjustment, more selection, more movement, more of all of it until something starts to take shape. Color, form, pattern, and texture. If I do my job, many will never even notice or think about the process, just the end result. Is it pleasing, or compelling, or maybe just interesting? But for me, the process is everything.
