DEATH BY PANEL

This quote from the post accompanying this photo shows why panel discussions are lost opportunities.

"Building childcare ECOSYSTEMS cannot be done in ISOLATION."

Yet by using a panel, the event organizers deny participants the opportunity to EXPERIENCE the ECOSYSTEM that is IN THE ROOM.

Sigh.

PLEASE have people reflect in small groups about what they heard from a round of 2-minute mini-presentations by the panelists. After harvesting some insights, ask the groups to discuss what an ecosystem might look like for them—or something like that (Open Space, World Cafe).

The insights and relationships generated by these new connections will far outweigh what people get from more time listening to the panel.
