History podcasts keep me company when I walk my dog in Nepal. So I think a lot about empire, those large tectonic plates that morph with age.
The internet has created new empires, of course. The internet, like empire, also exposes our base natures. Where the sword conquered new armies and landscapes, so too does the internet capture with a kind of vile lowest common denominator, not of violence, but of stupidity.
What will emerge, what will blossom, from this new version of empire?
Critical reasoning, I hope.
