My youngest is 2 and after a very long period of zero exercise (well apart from the school run), I’ve tentatively got back into doing exercise with at home Youtube workouts.

What I’ve noticed is that when I focus on not meeting this goal perfectly, it takes the pressure off me.

I’d had a good run of doing some kind of movement for the past few weeks. Then, yesterday I was out early with the kids and didn’t get time to do any kind of movement in the morning.

Instead of thinking I’d failed, I just did some yoga stretches while my middle son was reading to me at bedtime. Yes, my 2yo was climbing through my legs and on my back for most of it, but it was still something.

I still met my goal but in an imperfect way. For me, the best way to approach making a change in my life is to do it imperfectly and know that any action is better than none.

Something for me to remember when the kids start school and the morning chaos begins again!
