I am totally with you on appliances. We choose the simplest, less-featured models. When we bought our fridge 16 years ago, I did not want an ice maker or any hole on the door for water or ice. Just a simple two door model with a freezer on the bottom. And an old-fashioned ice maker in the freezer.
Our washer and dryer are the same. I never wanted one of those fancy front loading things. Just the basic models. Our appliance repair man told us years ago - do not buy the fancy machines. Too expensive to fix.
I spent a night in a cabin in Death Valley National Park. It had a combination washer and dryer unit. Not top and bottom mind you. But the two were combined. We never figured it out.
I feel the same way as you about other technology crap we have to deal with. If it is too complicated, forget it. Everything seems to need to be updated. Software updates - ugh. Payment declined - ugh. Account not recognized - ugh. Password not valid - ugh.
I am trying to move on. I love print magazines, newspapers and books right now. I can pick them and feel them. I think my eyes are getting worse for looking at computer screens all day. Maybe this is a sign.
