Make money doing the work you believe in

I made one of the worst mistakes you could make in VIBE CODING… and somehow, I’m glad I did.

I asked Cursor to help me add just one column to my Aiven database. That’s it. Cursor did what I asked… by wiping the entire database clean.

Hundreds of users.

Payment records.

Waitlists.

Newsletter tables with hundreds of thousands of entries.

Gone in seconds.

I froze. Sweaty palms. Racing heart.

Part of me was furious. Part of me was just… stunned.

But the damage was done. So I asked Cursor:

Look what you did. What now?

Its reply?

Check your hosting provider. They usually keep backups.

I checked. They did.

But I was on a free plan, which meant I couldn’t access it.

No worries, I thought. I’ll just upgrade.

I combed through every corner of their site — no upgrade page, no button.

Nothing.

Back to Cursor again:

There’s no way to upgrade,” I said.

Then Cursor did something I didn’t expect.

It connected directly to the hosting provider from the command line.

Checked the available plans.

Chose the smallest paid plan that would enable backup access.

Upgraded the account.

Exported the backup.

Downgraded the account.

All of this… in a few minutes.

A few cents.

And suddenly — my entire database was back.

Was I scared handing over full database control to AI?

Absolutely.

Would I do it again for insert/update/delete operations?

Maybe with some hesitation.

But if I’m staring at a wall and can’t find the door?

Cursor’s the first one I’ll call.

That day, I learned something important:

AI might make mistakes, but it also solves problems faster, smarter, and more patiently than I can under pressure.

Mistakes can terrify you.

But they can also teach you exactly who (or what) to trust when it really matters.
