I am so inspired by your cold plunges Cissy! Way to go :)
This month I am calling it “Mission Non-stimulation March”
The reason? I’ve noticed too much dependency on my electronics and feeling too “plugged in”.
I had a moment at the overstimulated Central mall in Chiang Rai, Thailand where I saw everyone glued to their screens around me at the food court. Even the children.
Fifteen small actions to align with this project are to:
shamelessly take naps when I’m tired.
be analog with journal and physical books in AM and PM
stop looking at screens after 9:30 pm and before 8:30 am
have naked ears after work without music or podcasts while going places
mono-tasking more often (lo fi music while writing is still allowed)
warm lights and candles at night
no caffeine after 1 pm
sleeping without my phone or computer in the room
showering without my watch on
turning off morning reports with sleep scores on my Garmin watch
feel without guilt for a night in rather than being out at the night market
pausing more while in conversation
putting my phone in the belly of my motorbike (for safety) while driving places and using my memory of familiar places or looking at directions before I go somewhere
go on walks without my phone
audio calls instead of video (fewer senses are necessary)
Seven days in and so far it’s been some acclimating to my nervous system. It’s so used to always being “on”.
