These efforts seek to secure the release of some Israeli captives in exchange for a few days of food and water, without any guarantees from any party regarding a full cessation of hostilities—particularly as Prime Minister Netanyahu has pledged to resume the war in order to complete the objective he declared at its outset, but failed to achieve over the past 18 months: namely, 'total victory and the recovery of the captives.'
