Coffee break thoughts:

I recently realized a writing mistake. Not a tiny grammar one but a big structural one or maybe, rather, a mindset one.

I want to write about my random thoughts here; it's meant to be a place to write the things that don't have a home elsewhere. But I hadn't considered what form those took. I was just going to write/rant and post. Write well of course, and edit, but thinking of these pieces simply as “posts.”

Working through the idea I'm working on now, I realized that it's really a personal essay. I didn't go in thinking that, it was “just a post,” but I think that's a mistake. I think formatting and planning it as such might have been stronger? I'm going to post it in the form it is, but I'm thinking from here on out it's important as a “serious writer” to think about form and purpose more.

This also has be thinking… what other so-called forms are there? Blog posts? sure. Articles? Yes. Recipes with head notes and introductions? I guess so! The “dreaded” listicle? Could be fun!

What other forms can these hobby and shower thought posts take? Is free-form rant an option? Do I need an “agreed upon” structure?
