Elif, This is so wonderful, and I love your thinking about diachronic/synchronic texts. I found that by the time I'd finished writing my book, I was a completely different person, with different thoughts, than I was when I wrote the intro and first chapters... and possibly would have rewritten those first sections as this "new person" if I'd had the time!

But how powerful to see, on the page, that we're all constantly evolving people. And what a privilege to witness another human being's process of transformation and change. Perhaps if we saw it modeled more-- if we could watch the process by which a thinker moves through stages of understanding-- we'd develop a greater appreciation for the fact that we're all a work in progress. Maybe we'd develop more empathy for each other's missteps and mistakes...
