Once again, someone from California commented on one of my notes about our boycott of American booze and travel, suggesting basically that Canadians consider a little ‘nuance’; that not all Americans voted for Trump and that we are unfairly hurting California. Here is how I responded:

Look, the USA isn’t picking through our voters to avoid attacking Conservatives aligned to MAGA and just tariff our provinces and territories that voted Liberal or NDP; the USA is tariffing ALL of Canada and threatening the sovereignty of our WHOLE nation. We are a measly 10 provinces and 3 territories comprising 40,000,000 people and the USA can’t be bothered to check who is sympathetic to them and who isn’t. You are 10 times bigger! Why in the world would you expect us to vet your 340,000,000 people or your 50 states for sympathetic individuals?

The fact is that the federal government of the USA is aggressively bullying ALL of Canada, threatening ALL of Canada, insulting ALL of Canada.

We’re a nation with a small population that has always had the back of the USA and has always supported the American economy.

Trump says the USA needs nothing from us.

We’re saying otherwise.

If individual Democrats are being hurt, that’s unfortunate I guess, but it is because Trump is hurting ALL of us. Do something about HIM; don’t blame us for fighting back.
