Tabatha Arnold on her experiences of the US oil blockade of Cuba. It is deeply symbolic that US sanctioned hotels have power but hospitals do not, as almost mirrors the 1959 the US wants to recreate: a Cuba as a US client state, with little social provision for the poor, and an economy focused on functioning as the playground for the American elite.

For those in Auckland interested in Cuba there is a meeting tonight at Auckland Trades Hall - ‘Hands off Cuba.’

Venue: Auckland Trades Hall (147 Great North Road) - 7pm start.

Speakers include

  • Cuban Ambassador Luis Ernesto Rodriguez,

  • Josephine Varghese, University of Canterbury lecturer, recently presented at the 60th anniversary of the Tricontinental Conference in Havana, Cuba
