Legendary jazz guitarist Bill Frisell has a new album out, In My Dreams. I’ve been listening to it the last few days. Just this morning I recalled he once offered Guitar Player magazine 10 tips for guitarists. I think they’ve got application for any creative, including writers:

1. Listen

2. Don’t judge yourself

3. Be present

4. Embrace mistakes

5. Practice is great (up to a point)

6. Don’t think for others

7. Be yourself

8. Destroy competition

9. Take chances

10. Learn to forget
