I’ve been hesitant to do much blogging about D&D because in all truthfulness, I think I’ve just run out of much useful to add. I mean, you have so many incredible people on here sharing their games. You have bloody Jeffro Johnson on Substack now. I don’t know what more anyone could possibly need as far as speculative “advice” blogs go. There is a growing collective of game masters who have hit an absolute pinnacle of competence and creativity fuelled by initiatives taken over the last few years. The main core of the BROS are at the top of this list, but so many others are taking that same torch and running with it, and they are blasting past everyone else with such massive strides that they are making everyone beneath them look ancient in their relative incompetence. It’s so different from conventional gaming that it may as well be a completely different hobby at this point. Conventional D&D is throwing a ball in the air and catching it with your face, and everything the BROS and BRO adjacent guys are doing is Rollerball.
This is not a lament. I am happy to just say I have literally nothing to offer at this point that has a modicum of value in comparison. The most I could possibly do is play reports and I think that would be the most appropriate were I to continue to do anything here.
