Holding office is fantastic. But it’s not a substitute for working-class power built through unions and community organizing.

Zohran is a municipal official, subject to forces beyond his control. Either Kathy Hochul or Donald Trump could manufacture crisis that push him out of office. Or, the economy could tank and voters would blame him for not delivering affordability.

To ensure the left’s progress can whether inevitable storms, manufactured or natural, we need deeper relationships with the working class. Only consistent, reliable proof that socialists are better their lives better will allow us to build a sustainable socialist project.
