If you want to get swept away for an hour or two in something other than the UK’s current floodwaters (when will the rain end?!) may I recommend booking yourself tickets to a classical music concert?

Yesterday we went to see some Elgar and Parry being performed in Basingstoke (my Christmas present, after saying I’d like to see more live music in 2026).

It was just stunning. The volume, the passion, the talent!
