I didn’t publish anything this week on Justice Notes or Notes from Exile. I hope you noticed.
Something came up that required my full attention. Calling it a “crisis” doesn’t quite fit anymore—not after prison—but it was enough to step away.
In the past, I would have pushed something out anyway.
But Bill Parcells once said consistency is overrated. For me, it’s about writing something authentic, something that actually resonates.
Prison Camp will publish Sunday as usual. The others return next week.
Below is a selection from my prison log. A reminder that reentry isn’t always what you imagined.
RETURNING HOME
The relief fades sooner than you’d think.
The old failures still reside there, and prison makes the trip home with you.
All those plans you made, those memories you forged, the new life you imagined— what happened to those?
Those sins you own hound you, dog you, torture you.
Those sins you own never leave you.
