Wrong — see the 21st century Godfather of the form, Karl Ove Knausgaard. His is, at face value, a most boring life. A moderately famous, middle class author. But he writes with life-or-death urgency, and is able to pace and digress in a way which makes his life, somehow, entertaining. If you want to write good autofiction, don’t become interesting. Get gud.
