My eyes flutter open to darkness, as they have since the day I was born. I feel disoriented, but then I remember where I am. I hear people saying I am awake and feel their hands touching my face.
The darkness begins to fade, and light begins to bleed through into my new eyes. A mirror is placed in front of my face, and I see eyes of palest blue staring back at me. The surgery was a success.
It is then I see the man behind me, empty eye sockets dripping blood and mucous. My dead donor is here.
