From the trail, nothing looked out of place, other than a small leaf-covered mound that seemed natural to those who set eyes on it. The hikers all passed by with nary a second glance, sniffing the air and attributing the scent to a dead animal.
Below the surface of the mound was where she lay, almost perfect save from some bruises and the ragged gash across her throat.
She would not stay that way for long, as the insects were already feasting. Time would do the most damage, though, as it was already beginning to eat away at her beauty.
