I tried to stage the unboxing—set the scene, capture the moment, make it mean something in five seconds.

It felt cheap. And also… like I was about to miss it.

This only happens once— opening the box of a book you first typed into a table in some internal doc 14 years ago.

And there I am— trying to sum it all up with the right camera angle while stirring cheap Trader Joe's noodles, because he knows mom doesn’t really cook anymore… not since she started writing the book.
