For someone who was steeped in this, it resonates. Jameson’s last book on French thought (transcripts of his famous French theory seminar at Duke) is elegiac in this way. Now that this thought isn’t “cool” anymore, has become obsolete, I suspect we will find ever more interesting things in it, things that weren’t available when it was all part of wave we were meant to catch, not a depth we were meant to plumb.
