I did have a bit of a pinch-me moment during Detroit Homecoming. I was in the same neighborhood tour group as Dee Dee Bridgewater - the Dee Dee Bridgewater, who is from Michigan - and was together with her and her daughter again at dinner one night. So, I got to talk jazz, SFJazz, and culture, and Detroit Homecoming with a living jazz legend. I got a little starry-eyed but managed to keep it together.
