Make money doing the work you believe in
First day of seventh grade. 1993. Everyone else is trying to hide from the 8th graders who laid claim to the school.
I ride up on my Huffy bike with a loudspeaker bungeed to the frame, blasting Ace of Base at the highest volume. Sometimes George Michael, depending on the morning. I’m twelve years old and I’m announcing myself to the entire parking lot.
Some adults (and peers) thought that kid was a show-off. He wasn't. He had just solved a problem without figuring it out for Substack first.
If the surface was big enough (or loud enough 😉), the world came to him. But while that worked in 7th grade, it eventually wouldn’t cover everything.
My latest article is about what that kid was actually working around, and the brain finding that finally explained it. I’d love to hear what you think.
