See the little judgy cat in the photo below? Yeah, I thought she was dead. She’s six pounds of wire and vinegar and has always hated being indoors. So mid-March, while my husband was carrying in a Costco run, she broke the rules and ran around the side of the building. Never came when he called. Wasn’t seen by anyone again.
I was in Springfield, packing up my mother’s house and it was a week before I was also able to look for her. Sadly, no Lexie-Kitty.
Until I was closing the 2nd floor windows yesterday and looked down at the deck! There she was, snoozing away in the sun. I called to her and she looked up, rolled over and exposed her stomach.
She zoomed away when I opened the basement door. Didn’t pause at her name, didn’t come back.
We left food out for her. But I think this former feral cat has returned to living her best, if now shorter, life. I’ll keep trying to coax her to me or to trap her with food, so wish me patience.
Lexi is free!
