I lived 26 years before we elected a president who speaks like that, which I’m now understanding is not a very long time at all, and in the (hopefully grand) scheme of my life, will be a faded memory. This is what and who we are now. It will be hard to remember when we were anything better. We’re a country whose president threatens genocide like he’s Ryan Seacrest teasing whether Clay Aiken or Ruben Studdard will be your next American Idol before throwing to commercial: “maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight.”
