In 2015 a US Navy X-47B became the first unmanned aircraft to be refuelled in-flight. Usually remote controlled, here it acted autonomously to dock with the drogue.

Since then, Airbus has perfected autonomous AI refuelling for entire flocks of UAVs: The dawn of the Terminators.
