Watched Tom and Jerry with my kids today, circa 1940. They loved it. But has anyone registered that many of the first cartoons are actually no more than symphonies with drawings overlaid? Kids’ entertainment was high culture back then. Now we have Blippy and Coco Melon, rotting the brain and straining the nervous system. But at least the kids are quiet. #socialprogress
