I’m neck deep in editing my upcoming book and honestly? I’m enjoying every second of it. This has been the most exciting, scary, and enjoyable book I’ve written.

It tells the story of women in Christian history. Women like Julian of Norwich, the fourteenth century mystic and first women to write a book in English, Monica the mother of Augustine of Hippo, the most important theologian in the Christian West, or Fanny Crosby, legendary hymn writer and the first woman to testify before congress.

Growing up, I had a sort of historic amnesia— I knew about the women in the Bible, and I knew about contemporary Christian women, but there was a big blank over the two millennia in between . What were Christian women doing, thinking, and praying about?

Meeting these women in the words they wrote and that those close to them wrote about met some deep existential need for me. It was something I had been hungry for without knowing it. And I suspect that others feel that way too.

In her very helpful edits, my editor encouraged me to tell readers in the intro *why* they should read the book. This is very sensible, and I’m very bad at it. Ha! So, I’ve been trying to find ways to put into words that feeling of excitement and importance I felt learning about these women. If that hunger and excitement is something you’ve felt, how would you articulate it?
