Another musical selection from THE ROUGH GUIDE TO THE BEST MUSIC YOU'VE NEVER HEARD, a book by Nigel Williamson with additional material by David Smyth and Robert Webb. If you're interested in keeping track of these, or catching up with tracks you might have missed, you can find them on the pinned post at the top of my publication's homepage.
The Seattle-based band Smoosh released their debut album She Like Electric in 2004 when singer and keyboardist Asya Saavedra was at the ripe old age of 13 and her sister, drummer Chloe, was just 11 years old. Before long they'd be opening for artists like Pearl Jam, Cat Power, Death Cab For Cutie, and Sleater-Kinney.
Smyth on "Make it Through" from their debut album:
"An ice-cold, hypnotic ballad on which Asya manages to channel all the pain and frustration of a struggling love affair, despite not being old enough to have a boyfriend."
Smoosh released three albums before changing their name to Chaos Chaos in 2012. They've since released one EP, one full length and over a dozen singles.
