Lord Jesus,

today we think about how

you bent down low

taking a servant-like role 

wearing a towel 

wrapped around your waist

carrying a water-filled bowl

to wash your disciples’ feet

may we not be afraid

to take a lower seat

to offer others grace 

to humble ourselves 

leave our egos on the shelf
