I painted this summer landscape in gouache, and the scene might feel familiar. I shared a winter version of this view a couple of notes ago, covered in snow and muted light.

Coming back in a different season changes everything. The structure stays the same, but the feeling shifts with the color, light, and atmosphere.

I like to paint the same place under different conditions. It makes me wonder how much of it is the subject, and how much is just the moment we catch it in.
