13.26 Judy’s Missives: Generosity in all its guises - 27 June 2023 - (year 13 week 26) - For 13 years ‘le Bulletin’ newsletter has contained both stories/articles about France AND what I refer to as my ‘Missive’. My ‘Missive’ has for all these years been all about life and love! …and not usually about France.

Since moving ‘le Bulletin’ to substack I’ve decided to try separating ‘le Bulletin’ from my ‘Missive’ - meaning that stories about France and life and love will be separate. And my ‘Missive’ will live here on Substack, but you’ll find it here on the NOTES part of ‘le Bulletin’ home page

***Generosity in all its guises - 27 June 2023

As I woke this morning to find that ‘le Bulletin’ had another 10 free subscribers overnight plus 4 paid subscribers: a monthly, two yearly, and one wonderful key supporter, I felt warm inside and felt so grateful for the generosity of others. The generosity of YOU.

I’ve just noticed (what I think is a new #Substack feature) when those choosing to commit to a paid subscription are given the option of sending a #privatemessage (to me). I love it already! This is what Substack is all about - direct connections with subscribers!

Private messages such as :

• "I want to keep reading "

• "We "accidentally" sold our house [in France] in 2020 ... I miss it soooo much and I dream about our village all the time. We hope to go back each year - so I want to know what is going on!"

• "What would I do without your weekly missives? For so many years it has been a part of the week that I miss either because of your intervening life or mine. Thanks, Judy. You are appreciated. "

I don’t write ‘le Bulletin for recognition - but these very kind, generous words mean the world to me.

• Back in my ‘le Bulletin’ archives from two years ago I found this newsletter - ‘Generosity in many guises’ so I thought that I’d recycle the title :) because that’s how I feel today… and I wanted to share it with you.

In that newsletter, I spoke of the amazing and generous contribution of the MyFrench Life contributors and others who’ve supported me for 13 years now. Too many to name here, now, however:

• A shout out to Ray Johnstone who has contributed > 100 articles! and very interesting ones too.

• And another shout out to Jacqueline Dubois Pasquier our Paris Liaison and Convenor of our French Book Club which wouldn’t exist without her.
