You can have all of the company in the world, but if you find yourself keeping the things that are most important to you buried in your brain - and the ideas that inspire and empower you small and stifled - we shrink our stories as creatives - and as human beings. (& we’ll always feel that sense of otherness - loneliness and lack, anyway)
For me - seeking my tribe - finding my people - and connecting with a creative community of likeminded people within my people - is the antidote to this sort of existential abyss. We are social creatures. People rarely grow much, alone.
We are better together. High hills look easier to hurdle together. I remind myself of this - and try to keep asking - How can I help? Who can I serve? And maybe, out of that abyss - something bigger, bolder and more interesting emerges. In community, for community.
Alone we can change a neighborhood. Together we can change the world.
