I think about this all the time. If I had the time, money, connections, and influence I would manifest a movie made about the relationship between Magnus Hirschfeld and Li Shiu Tong (and their other boyfriend, Karl Giese) and their time at the Institute for Sexual Science in 1930s Berlin. It’s absolutely crazy to me that no one has made this movie or Netflix mini-series. An interracial power throuple who studied sexuality and ran a sexual science research facility that doubled as a refuge for persecuted trans people, only to be ransacked by the Nazis, forcing them to hide out in exile? How has this not been made?! Li wrote an account of their life and dramatic escape, so we already have half the screenplay in a first person account from the guy who lived it. For the love of god, someone with money make this happen! Hire me as a consultant — these are screenshots from my lecture on the subject!
