The “electron gap” between the United States and China will continue to widen. The key question is whether raw energy capacity can compensate for China’s less advanced semiconductor base. In the near term, abundant power could offset some constraints through scale and brute force. But as China narrows the hardware gap, energy has the potential to shift from a substitute to a multiplier, turning capacity into sustained technological leverage rather than a temporary workaround.
