Reporting this story for the last few months for The New York Times really moved me. It's about the efforts Alaskans have made to bring traditional foods to storm evacuees and why wild foods are a linchpin of precious, unique cultures here. The images with the story, made by Alaska photographers Marc Lester, Katie Basile, Chris Arisman and Nathaniel Wilder, bring home how special this place and our people are.
